Overview
Weddingly is a free, customizable, animated wedding invitation template. Couples share it as a link instead of a printed card. The live demo is an invitation for "The Wedding of Mikha & Clara".
The challenge
Digital wedding invitations are common in Indonesia, but the nice-looking ones are usually paid services with a fixed set of designs. I wanted to make something that feels as elegant as a premium invitation, works well on the phones guests will open it on, and that anyone can adapt for their own wedding for free.
What I built
- A cover screen with the couple's names, the date and an "Open Invitation" button that opens the rest of the invitation.
- Animated transitions that make the invitation feel like more than a static page.
- A full-bleed photo layout built around the couple's own prewedding photos.
- Customizable content: names, date, photos and text are meant to be swapped out to make it your own invitation.
- A mobile-first design, since invitations are almost always opened from a chat app on a phone.
Highlights
- Next.js: each invitation is a fast, shareable link that previews nicely when sent over messaging apps.
- The "open invitation" moment: a gated cover screen recreates the feeling of opening an envelope, and gives the animations a clear starting point.
- Free and reusable: the project is a template rather than a one-off, so the same codebase can serve any couple.
